We are going to discuss five mistakes that Google doesn’t like and How can we stop making those mistakes.

  1. Keyword optimization: Keywords are the thing on which SEO is based. People search for the keyword and Google ranks your website before them on the Search Engine Results Page.

Many times people do not understand the importance of keywords and keyword optimization. By keyword optimization, it is meant that you should:

  • Use various variables of your main keyword.
  • Place some version of your keyword after every 100 words.
  • Use proper keywords in your headings which Google will look at.
  • Do not use the same form of a keyword, again and again, this would not help you. Instead, try using different phrases and words.
  • Go for keywords according to “what your target audience can search for”.

There are several free tools available that can help you with keyword optimization. Some free keyword research tools are:

  1. High-Quality Content:  Initially google used to look only for the keywords in the content and would rank your website. But now it takes a deep look at the quality of content. Google wants your content to of high quality. Content that lags quality doesn’t matter for Google even if the right keywords have been used.

In order to build high-quality content, you should:

  • Create in-depth content: By in-depth content, it is meant that you should dig into the topic deeper and deeper. Your content must at least be 2000 words long for getting ranked on top. The more detailed your content is the more chances are there for ranking on the first page of Google. Shorter content do not get a chance to be ranked.
  • Create semantically rich content: By semantic richness, it is meant that your content should not be limited to one single keyword, it should have various synonyms, phrases, and other things related to your main keyword. Google doesn’t take a look at single keywords.
  • Provide for interactive page experience: People do not want to read the simple article going on, it should have some structure to it and so does Google. The more interactive your page is more chances are there to be ranked. Create a proper table of contents, and add proper images, and also video content. These things provide a proper structure to your content and ultimately benefit you.
  • Avoid grammatical mistakes: This is an obvious one, google will not let content with several grammatical errors rank on the top. You must proofread your content before publishing it in order to avoid grammatical mistakes. There are several free tools available for grammar checks like Grammarly.
  1. Poor Tags: In order to be ranked on top you must use proper tags. Tags like title tags, must contain your main keyword and it should be at least 50-60 characters long but not more than that. The title tag is something that would be appearing on the Search Engine Results Page.

Along with title tags, appears the Meta-Tag, also referred to as meta description, which is again really important. Many of the pages do not optimize the meta description. It explains the relevance of your content in reference to the topic. You should mention some important points of the content in your meta description so that Google can look at it and provide a  chance of ranking to your content.

Using proper meta description and title tags can make it easier for Google to evaluate your content and it indeed would be beneficial for you to help you rank on the first page of Google.

  1. Irregular Content: Irregularity is something that Google doesn’t like and we tend to make this mistake quite often. If you want your content to be recognized by Google, you will have to be regular with your content.

You are required to produce more content than your competitors. Also, you should be versatile with your content, as in your content should not be limited to one particular domain, it should explore. Your content should be trendy, that is it should be compatible with the current market trends.

For Example, You produce content related to Fashion and lifestyle, it should not talk about the trends that existed in past but the trends that exist now or are beginning to exist.

If you don’t keep your content trendy, you start losing value amongst the readers. Also, this is something that Google doesn’t prefer. It also wants to provide trending stuff to its users.

  1. Linking: This is something many of us ignore. We should provide proper internal and external links to your content.

External links should be related to big names, and high-ranking websites which will help you and not just any website. Also, you can link with those websites that have linked to you, this can help you get traffic in the future.
